Climate Expertise With A Cross-sector View
Sahil Priyadarshi earned a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology, an M.Tech in Building Energy Performance from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and an eMasters in Climate Finance and Sustainability from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. During his M.Tech, he received the first prize from the U.S. Department of Energy for designing a net-zero-energy, water and waste home. He began his professional career as a Research Assistant at Ant Studio in New Delhi, contributing to an affordable terracotta-tube evaporative cooling system, before joining GreenTree Building Energy as an Energy Analyst and later Senior Energy Analyst, where he led technical delivery and business development for over 40 public- and private-sector projects in energy efficiency, renewable energy and green buildings.
He joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, as a Technical Specialist on the EDGE Green Buildings program for India, progressing through roles as Technical and Business Development Specialist for India and then for South Asia, before becoming the South Asia Regional Specialist for Green and Resilient Buildings. In this capacity, he scaled the adoption of IFC's EDGE Green Buildings and Building Resilience Index programs across the region through business development, technical advisory, and consultancy to developers, architects, engineers, banks, and financial institutions. He managed portfolios for clients including Brookfield, Tata Realty, Shapoorji Pallonji, Larsen and Toubro, the Asian Development Bank, Indian Oil Corporation, and the Mumbai and Pune Metro, and worked closely with development financial institutions to scale sustainable financing opportunities in real estate.
He contributed to more than 120 green building certification projects spanning over 8 million square metres across India, working across EDGE, LEED, IGBC, and GRIHA systems. He conducted capacity-building workshops for over 700 professionals — including BEE-certified energy auditors, developers, financial institutions, architects, and engineers — and 400 architecture and engineering students. He served as a Technical Resource Group member for the Solar Decathlon India competition, led the first EDGE certification of 100 self-built low- and middle-income green homes with Aavas Financiers, and organised UNEP India Cooling Program roundtables across Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai. He co-founded AavishkArt, a creative venture showcasing handmade crafted products. He founded CFS News to bring climate, finance, and sustainability coverage onto a single cross-sectoral platform, naming every source and keeping the standard high enough for practitioners to act on.
