CFS News exists because practitioners need a trustworthy cross-sector read, quickly. Trust is a method, not a tone of voice, so the method is written down below.
How We Publish
We summarise; we do not republish
The channel does not paste another organisation's article and keep the traffic. We write our own short account of what happened, link to the original, and show the source on every story so a reader can always go to the primary record.
The source is visible, always
Every story names the publication, filing or institution it came from and links to it. Where the desk has added reporting of its own, that is stated in the copy.
Machines assist; people decide
Feeds are collected automatically and machine models draft summaries and propose tags. A member of the desk reviews what is published, except where a source's own policy allows immediate release — and that policy is recorded and visible to staff.
Corrections are attached and dated
If we get something wrong, the fix appears on the story itself with the date it was made. We do not quietly edit history. Report an error and you will hear back from a person.
Sponsorship never writes the copy
Advertorial and sponsored work is labelled at the top. A sponsor can place an item; a sponsor cannot choose which stories appear in a sector rail, in The Briefing, or whether they appear at all.
Data and figures carry their origin
Numbers in the sourced-data strip name the dataset or report they came from, so a reader can check the method rather than take our word for it.
Translation is labelled as translation
A reader can view any story in another language. Those views are machine-generated, clearly marked, and the English text remains the version of record.
The assistant is a tool, not a columnist
The on-site assistant answers questions from the published archive and links to stories. It can be wrong; the story it cites is the authority.

- Every control reachable and operable from the keyboard.
- Photography carries alternative text; decorative marks do not.
- Motion can be turned down by your own system setting.
What We Keep
- Newsletter sign-ups: your address, frequency and sectors — nothing else.
- Your reading language and edition are stored on your own device.
- Assistant conversations are kept so staff can improve the tool; they are not sold.
- No third-party advertising trackers run on this site.
